Polar Plunge (Carpe Freezum) 2012

Event – Polar Plunge (Carpe Freezum) 2012
When – 3 February 2012 @ 2.30pm
Where – Atlantic Ocean beach between 6th and 9th Streets in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The Polar Plunge® Winter Festival is Special Olympics Virginia’s largest fundraiser, attracting more than 10,000 people to an otherwise deserted beachfront in February. Individuals and teams, alongside our athletes and thousands of community members, experience heartwarming and bone chilling extremes as they take the plunge into the icy Atlantic Ocean in the height of winter! Anyone can participate; those under 18 must have a parent or guardian signature.

A polar bear plunge is an event held during the winter where participants enter a body of water despite the low temperature. In the United States polar bear plunges are usually held to raise money for a charitable organization.
