Sea transport is vital for Istanbul, as the city is practically surrounded by sea on all sides: the Sea of Marmara, the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Black Sea. Many Istanbul people live on the Asian side of the city but work on the European side (or vice-versa) and the city's famous commuter ferries form the backbone of the daily transition between the two parts of the city, even more so than the two suspension bridges that span the Bosphorus. At 8:40 PM, red 'Falling Angels' are fired off four barges as well as the lighting of a line of red flare pyrotechnics off the catwalk of the Sydney Harbour Bridge as part of the 'Acknowledgement Of Country'. The famous 9 PM Family Fireworks occur after this featuring four barges, city buildings and the catwalk of the Sydney Harbour Bridge all synchronised to a soundtrack. Only short segments occur on the Sydney Harbour Bridge with the latest being a 'Red and White Checkerboard Waterfall'. These segments occur about three-quarters the way through the display.

Then at Midnight, the world famous Midnight Fireworks begin. Synchronised to a soundtrack,the fireworks explode off the arches, catwalk and roadway of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the city buildings and all seven Barges. The show opens with an opening sequence on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, city buildings and one barge. The majority of the show features six barges with the Sydney Harbour Bridge doing sequences of varying lengths throughout the show. The barge in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge also features occasionally during the show to synchronise with the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks or to attract attention as the Sydney Harbour Bridge is about to do something spectacular (like Bridge Effect unveiling and Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks finale). The closing sequence of the show features the Sydney Harbour Bridge before all firing points explode in an 'all-white' finale.

Dick Clark's New Years Rockin Eve 2013 Live Stream, Taylor Swift Times Square Webcast

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest (formerly Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve) is a television program that airs every New Year's Eve on ABC. It had previously been hosted by Dick Clark since its first airing on Sunday, December 31, 1972. Ryan Seacrest has been the program's co-host since the December 31, 2005 telecast. The show features performances from various contemporary artists, as well as coverage of the dropping of the Times Square Ball in New York City's Times Square.

The program airs live in the Eastern Time Zone, and then on tape delay in the other areas of the United States so that the show is correlated to when midnight strikes in the other respective time zones. On April 18, 2012 the long-time host of the show, Dick Clark, died after suffering a heart attack. ABC has not yet commented on future New Year's coverage, nor has Dick Clark Productions has commented on the future of the franchise.

Early indications are that the show will go on, hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

It has been suggested that Taylor Swift will be one of the headline acts for 2013.

The Ultraman World Championship is a three-day, 320 mile (515-km) annual endurance race held on the Big Island of Hawaii. The race is divided into three stages: The first is a 6.2-mile (10-km) ocean swim from Kailua Bay to Keauhou Bay, followed by a 90-mile (145-km) cross-country bike ride, with vertical climbs that total 6,000 feet. Stage two is a 171.4-mile (276-km) bike ride from Volcanoes National Park to Kohala Village Inn, with total vertical climbs of 4,000 feet. Stage three is a 52.4-mile(84-km) double-marathon, which starts at Hawi and finishes on the beach at the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area. Each stage must be completed within 12 hours or less. The swim portion of stage one must be completed in 5.5 hours or less. Participants who do not reach the finish lines within the time limits are disqualified.

This event attracts athletes who seek to explore the extreme in physical and mental abilities. The race is limited to 35 athletes on an invitation-only basis and attracts participants from around the world, including Brazil, Canada, Italy, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, Slovenia and the United States. Racers must have reached their 20th birthday prior to the start of stage one. Each racer must be accompanied by an individual support team of at least two people over the entire course. Many support team members are volunteers from the Big Island community.

The Ultraman Challenge has been held annually since 1983 over Thanksgiving weekend as an extreme offshoot of the Ironman. The Ultraman is a sanctioned triathlon by the Triathlon Federation/USA and takes the components of the Ironman to the limits. The popularity of races such as the Ironman and Ultraman helped to establish the triathlon as an Olympic sport. The State Street Thanksgiving Parade, currently title sponsored by McDonald's and officially named the McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade (see below), an annual parade produced and presented by the Chicago Festival Association (CFA) and is often known as “Chicago’s Grand Holiday Tradition.” It is held on State Street in downtown Chicago, Illinois, and the three hour event begins each year at 8:00a.m. CT on Thanksgiving Day. In 1934, the United States had been in the Great Depression for five years. Many leaders in Chicago searched for ways to boost the economy as well as public spirit. Walter Gregory, President of Chicago's State Street Council, proposed a Christmas parade to Chicago Mayor Edward Kelly in the hopes that it would improve the moods of Chicago residents. The Mayor agreed to the parade, being primarily interested in its potential to improve Chicago's economy.

Chicago's first Christmas Parade was on State Street on December 7, 1934. Gregory and a costumed Santa Claus led the caravan, which was filled with toys and various merchandise from State Street businesses. As the city's government officials had hoped, the parade contributed to desirable growth in the local economy and 1934 held the city's largest holiday buying period since 1927. This was both exciting and surprising for the entire city. Not only was it the Depression, but that day held dangerously low temperatures throughout the entire state. Some areas of Illinois were as low as fourteen degrees below zero (fahrenheit).

In 1935, the city was in even worse financial status as a result of the Depression. The city could not afford the expensive floats that were used the year before. However, the event had been so successful in the previous year that The State Street Council and the City of Chicago agreed to use an old trolley to pull the floats, as there were trolley tracks on State Street at the time.

In addition to the usual floats and bands, Wendel obtained large papier-mâché heads similar to those he saw during a recent trip to Europe. The heads are made in Viareggio, Italy and remain a fixture of the parade to the present.

The parade was suspended in 1943 and 1944 due to material shortages caused by World War II, but Hudson’s resumed the event in 1945 and continued sponsorship of the parade until 1979 when the costs became burdensome. It turned the parade over to the Detroit Renaissance Foundation who produced it for four years. In 1983, Detroit Renaissance turned the parade over to the newly-created Michigan Thanksgiving Parade Foundation and the event became known as The Michigan Thanksgiving Parade.

Since 2006, the parade has taken place on Woodward Avenue, starting near Woodward and Mack Avenues, and ending at Congress Street. This is the route the first parade followed in 1924. The parade travels toward downtown from Mack Avenue, after crossing over I-75 it enters Foxtown, near Detroit's Fox Theatre, the Hockeytown Cafe, and Comerica Park. From Foxtown, the parade passes through Grand Circus Park then into the business district where it then enters the TV coverage area near Grand River and Gratiot Avenues. The route had been displaced from this route for several years during the construction of Campus Martius Park and realignment of Woodward Avenue and other adjacent streets. The construction was completed in 2004.

The 2012 Governors Awards nominees are James Earl Jones, Dick Smith and Oprah Winfrey. Attending the event are host David Hare, Meryl Streep, Ralph Fiennes and Vanessa Redgrave.

The Governors Awards presentation is an annual award ceremony hosted by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), at the Grand Ballroom of the Hollywood and Highland Center. Three awards, the Academy Honorary Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award are presented at this ceremony. The 1st Annual Governors Awards ceremony was held on November 14, 2009. Prior to, these three awards were formally presented during the main Academy Award ceremony, but now are restricted to a short appearance of the recipients on stage after a summary recorded presentation of the event.

The Governors Awards are one of five award ceremonies hosted by AMPAS, along with the Academy Scientific and Technical Awards, Academy Student Academy Awards and the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. The Academy Honorary Award, Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award are presented at the ceremony. The Governors Awards are held the November before the main Academy Awards ceremony, usually held in February or March the following year. The Awards are not voted upon but, rather, are presented at the discretion of the Academy.

The Academy Honorary Awards and Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Awards are both Oscar statuettes, while the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award is a small bust of Thalberg on a plinth. The Academy Honorary Award is given for "extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy". The Thalberg Award is given to "a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production".

The board members of AMPAS had previously been concerned about awarding more than one or two Honorary Academy Awards each year for fear of lengthening the main Academy Awards presentation. The smaller presentation of the Governors Awards was designed to invoke the feel of the early Academy Award ceremonies.

The 2012 MTV EMA's (also known as the MTV Europe Music Awards) will be held in Frankfurt, Germany on November 11, 2012. This will be the fifth time that Germany and the second time that Frankfurt will be host city of the EMA's. On September 17 the nominees were announced. Rihanna received seven nominations while Katy Perry and Taylor Swift five, leading the categories. This year added new regional categories to compete in the Best Worldwide Act, also this year the Best Look category was introduced.

The MTV Europe Music Awards always changes its host city. Up until now United Kingdom hosted the event thrice. Germany has hosted the event for a fourth time in 2009 when the awards were held in Berlin on 5 November 2009. The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards will take place in Madrid, Spain.

The awards are presented annually and broadcast live on MTV Europe, MTVNHD and most of the international MTV channels as well as online. The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards will be in Madrid, Spain. The nominees were announced on September 20, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga tie with five nominations each; Eminem close behind them with four. Eva Longoria will be the hosting of this years MTV EMA's and she said "I am so excited to host the 2010 EMAs in the beautiful and sexy city of Madrid!. I can’t wait to see some fabulous performances and I am so proud that the two most nominated artists this year are two amazing women - Lady Gaga and Katy Perry - who are making some of the most exciting music in pop right now!". Katy Perry and Linkin Park will perform at the Puerta de Alcalá.

Lord Mayor's Show 2012 Live Stream, Square Mile Procession, Parade, Fireworks Feed

The Lord Mayor's Show is one of the longest established and best known annual events in London which dates back to 1535. The Lord Mayor in question is that of the City of London, the historic centre of London that is now the metropolis's financial district, informally known as the Square Mile. A new Lord Mayor is appointed every year and the public parade that is made of his inauguration reflects the fact that this was once one of the most prominent offices in England. The ancient position of Lord Mayor of London has a role in the Square Mile, whilst the Mayor of London (which has existed only since 2000) is a different individual entirely, namely the elected head of the Greater London Authority.

The event is a street parade which in its modern form is a fairly light-hearted combination of traditional British pageantry and elements of carnival. On the day after being sworn in, the Lord Mayor and several others participate in a procession from the City of London to the Royal Courts of Justice in the City of Westminster, where the Lord Mayor swears his allegiance to the Crown. Formerly, the route was varied each year so that the procession could pass through the Lord Mayor's home ward; since 1952, however, the route has been fixed. The Lord Mayor rode on horseback or went on a barge via the River Thames, based on the route chosen. The river transport for the Lord Mayor's Show gave rise to the word float, used in the context of parades.

The procession begins at Guildhall; the Lord Mayor joins the rear from his official residence, Mansion House, having watched a flypast. Along the route, the Lord Mayor stops at St Paul's Cathedral in order to receive a blessing from the Dean on the Cathedral steps. On his arrival at the Royal Courts of Justice in Westminster, he takes the oath of allegiance; the return procession then recongregates on Aldwych, outside the London School of Economics stretching down to the River, before it begins from Temple Place. When returning, as when going to the Royal Courts of Justice, the Lord Mayor joins the back of the procession. Upon his return to Mansion House, members of the City of London Corporation welcome him.

The parade, which begins at about eleven o'clock in the forenoon, concludes at about half past two in the afternoon. The procession is over three miles (roughly five kilometres) long, but the route itself is much shorter; the head of the procession reaches the end of the route before the Lord Mayor even leaves his home. In the evening, a fireworks display is held.
