Pinkpop Festival, or Pinkpop for short, is an unusual festival held at Landgraaf, Netherlands. It is held annually on the Pentecost weekend (Pinksteren in Dutch, hence the name). In 1970, the first festival took place in Geleen, now part of municipality Sittard-Geleen and was held on the Monday following that weekend.

Today, Pinkpop is a 3 day festival, from Saturday to Monday, and visited by approximately 60,000 people a day with performances on 3 separate stages. In 35 years, 1.5 million people have attended Pinkpop. More than 500 musical acts have played at the festival.

In 1994 (the 25th edition), it was decided to sell only 60,000 tickets, to prevent overcrowding due to the popularity of the festival. In 1995, it was made into a 2-day festival. Two years later, in 1997, this was further expanded to three days.

2007 saw a spin-off, later in the year, on 11 August, called Pinkpop Classic, for an older rock audience, with bands that previously performed there in past decades.

In 2008 Pinkpop was for the first time in its history, not held on Pentecost weekend which fell too early that year for the convenience of fans and performers alike.

Rock in Rio is a series of music festivals held in three cities: Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Lisbon in Portugal and Madrid in Spain. In 2013, Buenos Aires, Argentina, will be the fourth.

Four incarnations of the festival were in Rio de Janeiro, in 1985, 1991, 2001 and 2011, four in Lisbon, in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010, and two in Madrid in 2008 and 2010. The shows were organized by Brazilian entrepreneur Roberto Medina. In 2011, Rock in Rio returned to its original location, Rio de Janeiro, with a new line-up of singers and groups.

Rock in Rio has been the largest music festival in the world, with 1.5 million people in the first edition, 700,000 in both the second and fourth editions, about 1.2 million in the third, and about 350,000 people in each of the 3 Lisbon editions.

Future editions of the festival will intercalate an international edition with one in Brazil, returning in Lisbon in 2012 and Rio in 2013. Pre-sales for the 2013 tickets started during the 2011 edition, and have already reached 15,000 orders.

The nineteenth annual Cinema Against AIDS, held during the Cannes Film Festival, is a black-tie event featuring a cocktail reception, dinner, and live auction.

Over the years, Cinema Against AIDS has become the most eagerly anticipated and well publicized event held during the Cannes Film Festival. Cinema Against AIDS is always marked by unforgettable moments like Sharon Stone dancing along to an impromptu performance by Sir Elton John and Ringo Starr, George Clooney bestowing a kiss on a lucky auction bidder, Mary J. Chelsea Flower Show 2012 Live Stream RHS Royal Hospital Online Feed, Weather

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, officially the Great Spring Show, is a garden show held each year on five days in May by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in Chelsea, London. It is the most famous such show in the United Kingdom, perhaps the most famous gardening event in the world and part of London's summer social season. Popular parts of the Chelsea Flower Show include the show gardens designed by leading names and the centrepiece of the floral marquee.

The RHS first became involved with the Chelsea Hospital in 1905. Three years before, it had leased the grounds of Holland House in Kensington to hold what was first advertised as a Coronation Rose Show, but which turned into a more general show (with not many roses) by the time it actually opened in June. Two further two-day summer shows took place at Holland House in 1903 and 1904, but then, to the general satisfaction of exhibitors and press, a three-day Summer Show was staged in the Hospital grounds, a more spacious site than Holland House had allowed, with room for five tents. The Summer Shows reverted to Holland House for the years thereafter, except in 1911, when both it and Chelsea proved unavailable, and the Show was held at the Olympia exhibition hall.

The Royal International Horticultural Exhibition of 1912 demonstrated, at a time when the complaints from the Temple were increasing annually, what an excellent site for a show the grounds of the Chelsea Hospital provided. Accordingly, for 1913, the Great Spring Show was moved there, while the Summer Show reverted to Holland House. Despite the First World War, the show was held 1914 - 1916, but was cancelled in 1917 and 1918.

By the roaring 1920s, the Chelsea Flower Show was back in full swing, the famous Chelsea tea parties were established and Royal visits resumed. In 1926 the show was held a week late due to the General Strike.

In 1937, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth celebrated their Coronation Year, and to mark the occasion, a superb Empire Exhibition was staged. It featured wattles from Australia, pines from Canada, brilliant gladioli from East Africa and even a big prickly pear from Palestine.

The show was cancelled during the Second World War, as the land was required by the War Office for an anti-aircraft site. Some doubt arose as to whether the show would resume in 1947. The majority of exhibitors wanted a postponement, as stocks of plants were low, staff much depleted and fuel for greenhouses was obtainable only with special permits, but Lord Aberconway (then RHS President) and the RHS Council felt strongly that the show should resume as soon as possible. As it turned out, the show went ahead in 1947 and it was a great success.

Launched in 1996, Festivalissimo has become the most important event in Canada expressing the effervescence of Latin-American, Spanish and Portuguese cultures. Festivalissimo, the biggest event Ibero-Latin American in Canada, was created in 1997 by Ms. Elisa Pierna under the name of cultural Muestra Ibero-Latin Americana de Montreal . With the support of the community and the consular corps Ibero-Latin American Montreal, he quickly became a broadcaster par excellence of cultural cinema in Spain, Portugal and 24 Latin American countries.

In 2000, he marked his entry into the new millennium by incorporating components Entertainment and Visual Arts at its annual programming. He also created educational workshops for students of all levels of Quebec and American high schools. More than 10 000 students attended.

In addition to support two dozen private companies, the agency received in 2001 his first government grants. It was during this same year that the crop mustra adopted the official name of Festivalissimo .

Consequently, the popularity of Festivalissimo knew unbridled growth. An impressive array of movies, shows and exhibitions was presented in 2001 to an estimated audience of 140 000 participants. From 2002 to 2004, the number of films and countries represented increased by 300%. So much so that in 2005 the 298,130 festival-goers urged not to take part in one of the three strands of programming.

The event was held in Southern California from 1997 to 2010, and was moved to Las Vegas in 2011. MetLife Stadium is a stadium in the New York Metropolitan Area, part of the Meadowlands Sports Complex, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It is the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets of the National Football League and is adjacent to the site of the former Giants Stadium, which was home to the Giants from 1976 until December 2009 and the Jets from 1984 until January 2010. Like its predecessor, the new stadium is the only NFL stadium shared by two teams. However, unlike Giants Stadium, in which the Jets were tenants of the NJSEA, the new stadium is a 50/50 partnership between both teams. The first concert at the New Meadowlands was New Jersey natives Bon Jovi, who performed four shows at the venue on their The Circle Tour. The second concert at the stadium was Hot 97's Summer Jam. Eagles performed here on June 10 as part of their summer tour. U2 performed at the stadium on July 20, 2011 on their U2 360° Tour. The show was originally to be held on July 19, 2010, but had to be postponed following Bono's emergency back surgery. The show was the third to visit the Meadowlands on the U2 360° Tour, the first two being at Giants Stadium on September 23 and 24, 2009.

The 2012 UEFA Champions League Final will be a football match played on 19 May 2012 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany to decide the winner of the 2011–12 season of the UEFA Champions League, Europe's premier club tournament organised annually by the UEFA confederation. The winners receive the European Champion Clubs' Cup (the European Cup). The game is the culmination of the 57th season of the tournament, and the 20th since it was renamed the Champions League.

The match will kick off at 20:45 local time and will be contested by English club Chelsea and Bayern Munich of Germany. It's the first Champions League Final to be held in the Allianz Arena (known as "Fußball Arena München" for the final) which opened in 2005. With Bayern being one of two tenants of the Arena, it's also the first time a Champions League finalist has had home stadium advantage.

The Allianz Arena was announced by UEFA as the venue of the 2012 final on 30 January 2010, although the stadium will be referred to as "Fußball Arena München" for the match, as UEFA does not recognise sponsorship by companies that are not among its partner organisations. The stadium, which opened in 2005, is the home stadium of both Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich, and was used for six matches at the 2006 FIFA World Cup including the opening match. The stadium will host its first major European final. The Olympiastadion in Munich, the previous home of Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich, hosted three European Cup Finals in 1979, 1993 and 1997.

During the match, the stadium will be illuminated in green and turquoise to represent the official UEFA emblem of the Munich final, as the outer shell of the Allianz Arena can change colour. For this reason, the illuminants have to be changed, because the Allianz Arena could only glow in different forms of red, white and pale blue, so far.

The Billboard Music Award is an honor given by Billboard magazine, the preeminent publication covering the music business. The award was renamed the Icon Award in 2011. On February 17, 2011, Billboard announced that it would bring the BMAs back to television, moving from its original home on Fox to its new network, ABC, on May 22, 2011, and in 2012 airs live May 20 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Arena.

MGM Grand Garden Arena is located in the MGM Grand in Paradise, Nevada, USA, and is patterned after New York's Madison Square Garden. The Hangout Music Festival, styled as the Hangout Music Fest, is an annual three day music festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It is the first major music festival held on the beach in the city. The festival was attended by 13,000–15,000 people per day in 2010. Attendance in 2011 had to be capped at 35,000 per day, an unprecedented number for the second year of a music festival in the region, due to safety concerns. The 2011 event was estimated to have generated approximately $30 million for the Gulf Shores area economy. General admission tickets sold out on February 21, 2012, almost three months prior to the event.

Gulf Shores is a coastal city in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2000 Census, the population was 5,044. Raised in small-town Arkansas, Billy Bob Thornton grew up amid a rich storytelling tradition. See, the South is just different than other places. . . . You can feel the ghosts there. The characters were already there, so the stories just came out of the characters we knew. Billy grew up shooting squirrels, playing drums in VFW clubs, and dreaming of rock 'n' roll stardom or pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals. Then at sixteen he took a drama class to meet chicks—and met Mrs. Treadway, who noticed the young man's talent and encouraged him as an actor and writer. "You don't know what it's like to be a drama teacher in a small town in Arkansas where nobody really cares," she said, "but let me tell you something. You can do this." Everything I've accomplished since, I can trace back to this woman, Maudie Treadway.

AIDS Walk New York is an annual fundraising walkathon that benefits Gay Men's Health Crisis and over 50 other local AIDS service organizations. Founded in 1986, it's now the largest walkathon in the world, and the largest AIDS fundraiser in the world by participation.

The Woodlands area of Texas is the site of the Texas Ironman 70.3, where the athletes will begin with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands. Next is a 112-mile bike course that will take participants west through the scenic, rolling farmland of east Texas. The day ends with a 26.2-mile run course entirely within The Woodlands that concludes with a spectacular finish on Market Street.

An Ironman 70.3, also known as a Half Ironman, is one of a series of middle-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run. Each distance of the swim, bike, and run segments are half the distances of those segments found in an Ironman triathlon. The Ironman 70.3 series culminates each year with a World Championship competition, of which competitors qualify for during the 70.3 series in the 12 months prior to the championship race. In addition to the World Championship race, Ironman 70.3 championship competitions are also held for the European and the Asia-Pacific regions.

The Woodlands is a master-planned community and a Census-designated place (CDP) in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. The population of the CDP was 55,649 at the 2000 census, a 90 percent increase over its 1990 population. According to the 2010 census, The Woodlands' population rose by 68.6% from 55,649 in 2000 to 93,847 in 2010.[5] Much of The Woodlands is located in the city of Houston's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ), but small portions of the development extends into the ETJ of Shenandoah and Conroe.

The Woodlands is located 28 miles (45 km) north of Houston along Interstate 45. Though it began as a suburban development and a bedroom community, it also has attracted corporations to the area.

It is located 11 km north-east of Fuerteventura and 1 mile from Graciosa. The dimensions of the island are 60 km from north to south and 25 km from west to east. Lanzarote has 213 km of coastline, of which 10 km are sand, 16.5 km are beach, and the remainder are rocky. Its dramatic landscape includes the mountain ranges of Famara (671 m) in the north and Ajaches (608 m) to the south. South of the Famara massif is the El Jable desert which separates Famara and Montañas del Fuego.

The mountainous area of Lanzarote is called Timanfaya National Park. The tallest mountain is Peñas del Chache elevating 670 m above sea level. The "Tunnel of Atlantis" is the largest submerged volcanic tunnel in the world. Lanzarote is the easternmost island of the Canary Islands and has volcanic origin. It was born out of fiery eruptions and has solidified lava streams as well as extravagant rock formations.

The Dance parade is an annual parade and festival that showcases dance of all kinds as an expression of art and culture. It takes place in New York City each May, on the Saturday before Memorial Day. Greg Miller, a social entrepreneur and dance aficionado, established the non-profit organization in December, 2006 and led an all-volunteer group that produced the inaugural parade on May 19, 2007.

Over 2300 dancers from 75 organizations made their way down Manhattan’s Broadway and Fifth Avenue on and around eight floats. Ending in front of the Washington Square Memorial Arch, the parade culminated in 31 performances highlighting native New York dance styles such as hip-hop, jazz dance, break dancing, and salsa. Participants included the original B-boys, DJs Danny Tenaglia and Kool Herc; and Frieda Williams.

As defined by its Board of Directors, Dance parade’s mission is “to promote dance as an expressive and unifying art form by showcasing all forms of dance, educating the general public about the opportunities to experience dance, and celebrating diversity of dance in New York City by sponsoring a yearly city-wide dance parade and dance festival”. The parade route starts on 21st street, then progresses in the history of dance order and boogie our way down Broadway.

The parade is designed to celebrate the history of dance. The order of the parade reflects the history of dance, with the earliest forms African/Japanese/etc up through modern times. By showcasing various different genres, cultures and styles, the parade unifies the world of dance. It also provides the general public the opportunity to experience and participate in a day of dance.

The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), held annually in Seattle, Washington since 1976, is among the top film festivals in North America. Audiences have grown steadily; the 2006 festival had 160,000 attendees.

In recent years, the SIFF has run for more than three weeks (24 days), in May/June, and features a diverse assortment of predominantly independent and foreign films and, in recent years, a strong contingent of documentaries.

SIFF 2006 included 300+ films and was the first SIFF to include a venue in neighboring Bellevue, Washington, after an ill-fated early attempt. However, in 2008, the festival was back to being entirely in Seattle, and had a slight decrease in the number of feature films. The 2010 festival featured over 400 films, shown primarily in downtown Seattle and its nearby neighborhoods, but also in West Seattle, Everett, Kirkland, and Juanita Beach Park.

The Bamboozle is an annual rain-or-shine, three-day music festival held in New Jersey. Every year, new bands compete for spots during the two days. The event evolved out of the Skate and Surf Festival. The Bamboozle has many different characters within the festival planning. Some of these characters are real people with false identities, who work to plan and operate the festival, while others are completely fictional, and serve as a means to give the public clues as to who may be playing at The Bamboozle.

On November 7th 2011, John D, the founder, tweeted a picture from Asbury Park, New Jersey hinting that the festival would return there to help celebrate it's 10 year anniversary. It was later confirmed on their website and in various chats with John D. The three-day music and pop culture event will be staged at North Beach Asbury Park, New Jersey, May 18, 19 and 20, 2012 with Incubus, Foo Fighters, Mac Miller, Skrillex, Bon Jovi, Brand New and Blink-182 as the headliners.

Asbury Park is a city in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, located on the Jersey Shore and part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city population was 16,116. The city is known for its rich musical history, including its association with Bruce Springsteen. It was ranked the sixth-best beach in New Jersey in the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.

The Volvo World Match Play Championship is the current name of an annual match play men's professional golf tournament. From 2009 the event will be played at the Finca Cortesín Golf Club in Casares near Málaga, Spain, having previously been played at Wentworth Club near London. The event is traditionally played in the autumn, usually in October but sometimes in September, and is an official money event on the European Tour.

The tournament was founded by sports agent, Mark McCormack, as a showcase for the players he managed. The inaugural event in 1964 was won by Arnold Palmer, who was McCormack's first client. The calibre of the winners has consistently been very high, with the majority of the tournaments being won by players who have been ranked in the top two in the Official World Golf Ranking or its predecessor Mark McCormack's world golf rankings.

In 2003, the tournament was given a major overhaul. Greatly increased sponsorship was secured from the largest British based bank, HSBC, and the winner's prize was increased to £1 million, which was then easily the largest in world golf (although the Nedbank Golf Challenge had had a $2 million first prize from 2000-02). In 2004, the field was increased to sixteen players, all of whom need to play eight rounds of golf to win, to eliminate the advantage previously given to seeds. A qualifying system based primarily on performances in the four majors, replaced the invitations of the past. World ranking points were allocated to the event (for the first time since 1999), and the championship became an official money European Tour Order of Merit event - not however the actual prize money, as the first prize is far higher than for the other events on the tour, but scaled down amounts intended to be more proportionate. In recent years Americans have tended to decline their invitations. In 2005, no Americans took part at all, and with stalwart Ernie Els injured and Vijay Singh and Sergio García also absent, the field was one of the weakest seen at the event, with just one player from the world top ten. The 2006 event had a considerably stronger field with six of the world's top ten players headed by the world's top two ranked players Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk. But in January 2007 HSBC activated a break clause in its ten year contract and withdrew from sponsorship after the 2007 even.

The Cannes International Film Festival (French: Le Festival International du Film de Cannes or just Festival de Cannes), is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres including documentaries from around the world. Founded in 1946, it is the world's most prestigious and publicized film festival

The invitation-only festival is held annually (usually in May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. The 2012 Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 16 to May 27, 2012. The President of the Jury is the Italian film director Nanni Moretti.

The festival was relaunched after World War II in 1946, in the old Casino of Cannes, financed by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry and the City of Cannes. Although the initial spirit of the French festival was to compete with its Italian counterpart, a secret agreement took place between both nations, so that they will celebrate their international festivals in alternating years. The first Cannes Festival had a considerable success, so when the Franco-Italian agreement was made public it was heavily criticised and considered as a "capitulation of France".

The next year, in 1947, the festival was held again as the Festival du film de Cannes, dropping the international nature, but only in name, as films from sixteen countries were presented. Moreover, the principle of equality was introduced, so that the jury was to be made up only of one representative per country. Also, this year the festival was held at the made-for-the-occasion Palais des Festivals, although the roof was unfinished and blew off during a storm.
