At the Niagara Falls for New Years Eve 2011, marking the beginning of the New Year 2012 tens of thousands will gather outside at Queen Victoria Park, in front of the Falls to whoop it up on New Year's Eve. Festivities include a free, live concert and fireworks 9 PM and midnight. an exciting roster of musical talent has been assembled for this year’s free New Year's concert in Queen Victoria Park.

The evening kicks off with emerging recording artist Stephanie McIlroy, followed by performances by The Sheepdogs, Saskatoon's international rock phenomenon and JUNO award-winner Keshia ChantĂ©. Alt-rock legends, Our Lady Peace, will then keep the momentum going as the clock ticks down to midnight with pop/punk group, Simple Plan, one of Canada's most prolific bands, taking to the stage for a rousing finish. The Niagara Falls New Year’s concert in Queen Victoria Park (QVP) draws approximately 40,000 people to the Park, and this year is expected to be no different.

In major metropolitan and tourist destinations in Canada such as Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Montreal, the holiday is celebrated with major celebrations including concerts and fireworks. Other New Year's Eve celebrations such as late-night partying, sporting events and concerts are major events in these cities and other places around Canada. In some areas, such as in rural Quebec, people ice fish and drink with their friends until the early hours of January 1. Peak numbers of visitors occur in the summertime, when Niagara Falls are both a daytime and evening attraction. From the Canadian side, floodlights illuminate both sides of the falls for several hours after dark (until midnight). The number of visitors in 2007 was expected to total 20 million and by 2009, the annual rate was expected to top 28 million tourists per year.
