Las Vegas hosts the Indie Music Fest, being held at Sunset Park, Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a unique annual grassroots music festival/showcase, that is not your typical festival. It is specifically designed for the unsigned indie artist, writer and musician, the environment and the local community. The Indie Music Fest is also, making a major effort in the attempt to create many Green opportunities at the event, from the ground level up!
Sunset Park, one of the largest parks in Las Vegas, is located near McCarran Airport in the southeast part of town. The park is bordered by Sunset Road on the north, Eastern Avenue on the west and Warm Springs Road on the south. Accumulation of the land for the park began in 1909, when it became the Miller Ranch. It later became the Vegas Stock Farm, which trained and raced Thoroughbred racehorses. Clark County, Nevada acquired the property in 1967 and turned it into a park. Sunset Park Pond is around 14 acres (57,000 m2) in surface area and 10 to 12 feet (3.7 m) deep. It is home to various species of water fowl and fish. A distinct feature is small island in the middle of the pond where several Easter Island heads sit.
At the Indie music Fest there will be many activities and some will include: 3 stages to support up to 40+ of the best unsigned indie bands, representing the genres of: R&B, Rock, Urban, Adult Contemporary, Punk and Rock, from all across the United States. We will have the "Indie Fest 5K Run" benefiting: Habitat For Humanity, Music Industry VIP's, Vendors representing products and services.
